In my desperate laziness of sitting in my room late at night, and not wanting to go downstairs to grab an actual knife (I mean the distance is a bit much), I have found a new way to eat kiwi.
Ok, so grab the kiwi.
Got it?
Good.
Now bite off the top. (Sorry fuzzy shell haters, you gotta do what you gotta do to be lazy) If you really must spit it out, you can spit the top part out.
(and try to focus the camera on the kiwi instead of the hand next time)
Now dig in with a spoon!
For this absolutely ingenious idea, I would like to thank:
- Local kiwi that’s in season apparently (3 for $1!)
- Me being insanely lazy
- The sorority house for being so big
- Me for stashing plastic spoons in my drawers but not knives so I don’t have to go downstairs when I want a bowl of midnight cereal–or kiwi.
Ingenuity at it’s finest.
Onto some recent eats.
Lunch
A vegetable sandwich on whole wheat bread (my own that I buy, not the kind that the sorority stocks which has sugar and high fructose corn syrup in it)
A side salad topped with kidney beans, cucumber, corn, peas, sunflower seeds and carrots.
With some Mint Dark Chocolate for dessert
(It apparently cost $2.50 for the entire bar–whoops)
Dinner
The sorority was having Breakfast for dinner complete with cinnamon rolls, sausage and white pancakes plus I had a late night class so I rolled with my own dinner.
I made my own salad during lunch, then warmed up Annie’s Three Layer Enchilada Pie to put on top.
I’m sorry to say but it wasn’t one of Annie’s best.
In all seriousness (but not really), are you a kiwi-fuzzy-outter-shell hater? I used to eat kiwis straight with the fuzzy later. The texture has honestly never bothered me.

Thats exactly how I eat my kiwis!
Since reading blogs, I have realized that the skins are ok to eat and now I eat the whole kiwi! Pealing them is just too much work
*peeling!
Unlike the other 2 comments…I get the shivers when I think of biting into the peel! Since I was a little kid, I’ve always cut kiwis in half and scooped out the fruit with a spoon. I’ve never peeled a kiwi!
I used to be grossed out by the fuzzy kiwi, but now it doesn’t bother me at all! The only part I don’t like it the nubby thing at the end, but that’s easily bitten off
I eat the skin of kiwis. They have more nutrients and honestly I don’t mind the fuzzyness too much. Maybe I’m just a weirdo.
utensils are totally overrated
I havent had kiwi in forever, looks so good!
ahaah i chop my kiwis up but i LOVE the skin!
After seeing other bloggers do it, I started eating the skin. It’s a million times easier and now I don’t feel like I’m throwing away half of the kiwi with the skin!
After my husband told me about eating the skin, I don’t bother to peel a kiwi anymore. It is so much easier!
That is one of my favorite kinds and brands of chocolate!
Hehe, YAH!!! That’s the way to do it!
I always eat my kiwis with a spoon! (It most definitely tastes better that way!) that sammie looks super good too, what type of bread do you buy?
I buy Dave’s Killer Bread for right now, but I really prefer Great Harvest Bread. I just don’t have a car or the time to get out to a bakery
i have never tried the fuzz! i eat them all the time…especially when they’re cheap, but never braved the fuzz. lol
that’s such a great way! I am eating kiwis like that from now on!
ahha thanks for the kiwi tips I havent had kiwi in soo long and I am totally craving it
I think that’s Cedar Lane not Annies
I actually liked that meal when I tried it but I do think Annie’s is typically better…
And kiwis… Have you seen the fancy spoon/knife thing htey have for kiwis? a spife, apparently
they’re kinda cute. http://www.zesprikiwi.com/spife.htm
though i like your method too… yay for lazy/innovative college students!
Oh, I think you are definitely correct on the Cedar Lane/Annies thing. The Spife is a true work of genius!
I am not a huge kiwi fan but really, what a brilliant, time-saving idea. My family eats their eggs like that too – mainly because they are too lazy to peel them. The laziness thing runs in the family.
Yum yum fiber – I always eat the skin. Except that one little hard part of the stem.
